Going to Disney is so much fun but when you have multiple kids to juggle and only two hands, how do you hold the important things on you at all times? A fanny pack! That’s right, we are going back to the 90s.
But, What do you actually put in there?
I am the person/tourist that uses a fanny pack. I went to Disney when I was eight and my mom got me this really cute Minnie Mouse Fanny pack!
Although they don’t sell these anymore (or at least I can’t find them) I always loved to use it at Disney. I used it on a trip to Disney with my high school band, and I used it on my ‘Disney-moon’ with my hubby… For both of these trips, this was the perfect fanny because it held exactly what I needed!
My husband bought this one on our honeymoon back in 2015 and he was able to hold all of his things so we wouldn’t have to carry our backpack all day and night.
This black one is the one I recently used on our Disney Vacation (2019) and talk about a game changer!! Although my little red fanny worked the first few days, I realized that I needed to keep a little extra in it and it wasn’t big enough. On some rides we left the diaper bag in our stroller and our important things like cell phones, money, and sunglasses I sort of needed with me…
So for the remainder of our trip I used his fanny pack and was able to keep the essentials with us and the back pack in the stroller. I only took it down if we really needed too!
So for the few things that I did put in my fanny pack or what a person could put in their fanny pack if you may/may not have kiddos.
Fanny pack 101 (For the adults)
- Park Map
- I’m a paper and pen type of gal. I like to have the actual map in my hand because I star/circle and write on my map the night before to know exactly when and where we are going.
- pen/sharpie… (I like the click sharpies for my autograph book, but a pen for my park map)
- If you have a small autograph book it could fit in here, but if you have a larger one, like this princess one, sadly, it won’t fit.
- Phone
- Portable phone charger (Target $29.00)
- Hand Sanitizer (Target travel isle – $3.49)
- Two ponchos (dollar store ones that fold up tiny)
- chapstick
- For money, we used this Target RFID wallet $12.00
- It was easy for our IDs, credit card, Disney gift cards and some cash
- Small sunscreen
- Travel Tylenol
- Quarters and pennies — if you want to get the smashed pennies in the park – We sometimes use a ziplock to carry them.
Also, If you wanted you could put your trading pins in here somewhere.
Fanny pack for the family:
I would use the same larger fanny pack, but with kiddos I would also have my back pack. Little ones just need more things to take along with us. Like I said above, I would leave the bag in the stroller and just take what I needed into whichever restaurant, ride or adventure. The only thing I would pack extra in my fanny pack for kiddos would be wet wipes, and maybe an extra poncho, everything else would be in the backpack. ( I could also fit a diaper in here too… if I needed it.)
